CIMA guide
How to revise for CIMA
CIMA has two exam types: objective tests (P, F, E across each level) and case studies at the end of each level. They need different revision approaches. Below, a plan that handles both without wasting weeks.
Objective tests — hours and method
80–120 hours per OT. Structure: 40% content review, 50% question-bank practice, 10% weak-area rework. CIMA's Aptitude question bank is close to exam format; use it heavily in the last month.
Case study — the pre-seen matters most
The pre-seen drops 6 weeks before the exam. Read it 3+ times. Map industry, competitors, financials, and issues. Candidates who skim the pre-seen fail disproportionately.
Case study — writing structure
Every task follows a Situation → Analysis → Recommendation → Justification arc. Practise writing to this structure from week two of case-study prep.
Sequencing your sittings
Pass all three OTs at a level before booking the case study. The case study integrates OT content and marks assume that knowledge is fresh.
